Deep Tissue Laser Therapy is an innovative therapeutic modality that is scientifically based and specifically designed to offer advanced pain relief and expedited healing time. The primary mechanism behind Laser Therapy is photobiomodulation, the use of specific wave-lengths of light (red and near infra-red) that work by flooding tissues with photons, energizing the damaged cells and increasing circulation to the painful area. This creates therapeutic effects like:

  • Accelerated Tissue Repair & Cell Growth - The K-Laser penetrates deeply into the tissue and increases the energy available to the cell. This allows it to take on nutrients faster and get rid of waste products. This helps tissues repair faster.
  • Faster Wound Healing - Laser therapy stimulates the production of collagen, which allows your tissues to repair.
  • Reduced Fibrous Tissue Formation - Laser therapy helps reduce the formation of scar tissue and can allow for old scar tissue to become more organized, mobile and lead to better function of joints and muscles.
  • Anti-Inflammatory (without upsetting your liver, kidneys and digestive system) - Laser therapy increases the diameter of blood vessels and allows for lymphatic drainage. These effects together help reduce swelling and inflammation which causes pain!
  • Analgesic (pain relieving) - Laser therapy helps produce pain-killing neurochemicals as it blocks pain signals from the nerves.
  • Improved Vascular Activity - Laser therapy increases the formation of capillaries in damaged tissues, speeding up healing.
  • Trigger Points and Acupuncture Points - Laser therapy helps reduce trigger points and stimulates acupuncture points.
  • Improved Nerve Function - Slow recovery of nerve functions in damaged tissue can result in numbness and impaired limbs. Laser light will speed up the process of nerve cell reconnection and increase the amplitude of action potentials to optimize muscle action.
  • Increased Metabolic Activity - Laser therapy creates higher outputs of specific enzymes, greater oxygen and food particle loads for blood cells.

Laser therapy can help with:

  • Fibromyalgia
  • Arthritis
  • Shoulder Pain
  • Back Pain
  • Knee Pain

Frequently Asked Questions:

Does it hurt? What does laser treatment feel like?
Laser treatments are painless, safe, non-invasive and effective. In many cases patients feel a gentle warming effect and a profound feeling of relaxation.

Are there any side effects or risks?
Laser treatment should have no side effects when applied by a K-Laser certified and properly trained professional. Very few side effects have ever been reported during more than 20 years of use by healthcare providers worldwide. Occasionally areas of pain or inflammation may be sensitive briefly before pain reduction, as the healing response is more active after treatment. Laser treatment is safe to deliver directly over metal implants, over broken skin, and on acute injuries.

How long does each treatment take?
The typical course of treatment is around 5 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.

How often should a patient be treated?
The number of sessions will depend on the exact diagnosis, age and overall health status of the patient, and other factors. In general, acute conditions can be treated more frequently and require fewer visits, typically 4-6. Chronic conditions may require more visits, and do not need laser treatment as frequently. The effects of laser treatments are cumulative.

How long before the results are felt?
You may feel improvement in your condition after the very first treatment. Sometimes you will not feel improvement for a number of treatments. This doesn't mean that nothing is happening. Each treatment is cumulative.

Can it be used in conjunction with other treatments?
Yes. Laser therapy is often used with other forms of therapy, including physical therapy, chiropractic care, spinal decompression, following surgery, etc. Other healing modalities are complementary and can be used with laser to increase the effectiveness of treatment.
